Introduction
Clubhouse mobile app was launched in March 2020 and after Tiktok, it is the in-thing nowadays and their clever strategy of making it work only on iOS based devices and being an invite-only made it kind of exclusive and then it picked up momentum. Recent rollout of the App to Android devices has increased their user base significantly.
What is the App about?
It’s a voice only application that allows a user to enter a public or a private room. You can listen in, or ask a question if the moderator allows it.
All you need is a phone number and a name and then register for the username that you want to utilize. You can upload a picture of yours for your profile and have a short bio like your twitter/Linkedin URL, your job details, if you are looking for a job or a few interests (if you wish).
How can a sourcer / recruiter utilize it?
Your friendly X-ray search works like a charm. Following are some strings that you can explore.
- site:joinclubhouse.com (Engineer OR engineer OR developer)
- site:joinclubhouse.com (recruiter OR sourcer OR sourcing)
Linkedin and Twitter Id search
- site:joinclubhouse.com linkedin.com (Pulls up users with Linkedin links on their Profile)
- site:joinclubhouse.com twitter.com (Pulls up users with Twitter links on their Profile)
Club search
- site:joinclubhouse.com/club recruiter (turns up the following result) https://lnkd.in/g25a5GP
- site:joinclubhouse.com twitter.com marketing – one of the results turns out to be a club with thousands of followers https://lnkd.in/gEPr7-a
Event search
- site:joinclubhouse.com/event June 12th OR joinclubhouse.com/event Aug 7
Location search
Since many users do not self report their location, a location search may not be that productive. One example search string is
- site:joinclubhouse.com (Engineer OR engineer OR developer) NYC
Name search (This may not always work well)
- site:joinclubhouse.com “elon musk”
Now that ClubHouse is allowing private messaging among the members, the efficacy of using this platform for sourcing activities has increased.
Conclusion
Clubhouse is a new kid on the block. Should a sourcer focus a lot on Clubhouse? Probably not at this time, as it is still evolving and as the user base is still expanding.
